Why was the decision made to postpone Spring Commencement?

To ensure the safety of our students, faculty, staff and the community during the COVID-19 outbreak, The University of Texas at El Paso took measures in accordance with the guidance of The University of Texas System to postpone Spring Commencement Ceremonies. Please know that this decision was not taken lightly and the decision follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for large gatherings. It is the best approach to keeping students and family members healthy. For the latest updates in the University’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak, please visit https://www.utep.edu/ehs/COVID-19/index.html

When will the Virtual Spring/Summer Commencement ceremony take place?

After thoroughly reviewing the current community health conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic, The University of Texas at El Paso has made the decision to host a single virtual Commencement ceremony for Spring and Summer 2020 graduates at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020.

The virtual Commencement replaces the May graduation ceremonies that were previously postponed due to the pandemic.

Can I return my Grad Pack / Regalia that I purchased during the Spring GRADFAIR and get a full refund?

Yes, all Grad Packs / regalia that were purchased in this spring are eligible for full refunds as long as you present the receipt to the UTEP Bookstore and all the items in the grad pack are not damaged or missing. However, should you decide to return your Grad Pack / regalia, we do encourage you to keep your commemorative 2020 class medallion as a keep-sake. A $20 charge will be deducted from the refund total.

The UTEP Bookstore is now open. Find their business hours above.

Can I still purchase or return my Grad Pack / Regalia and Medallion?

Grad Packs, other regalia and the commemorative 2020 class medallion may be purchased during and after GRAD FAIR at the UTEP Bookstore up until the day of Commencement. The Grad Pack is specifically bundled to provide graduates the ultimate graduation package. Regalia can also be purchased separately the week after Grad Fair.

The UTEP Bookstore is now open. Find their business hours above.

Who is the licensed official vendor of regalia?

Jostens is the official vendor of UTEP regalia.

Can I order my regalia online directly from Jostens?

Yes, but it is not recommended because the medallion is NOT included in the online order, and online orders cannot be returned to the bookstore. Visit the UTEP Bookstore before ordering online. There may be a price variance.

Can I order my regalia from another vendor?

Yes, but it is NOT recommended due to the fact that the shades of black, material texture, cut, and stitching on the gown are distinctively different. Hood and Tassel colors are also noticeably different shades and material texture. These items will not be accepted by the Bookstore as returns.

The UTEP Family is so proud of the Class of 2020 and we will celebrate you. Please stay tuned for more information.
