UTEP Collectible Ornaments

Since 2001, the UTEP Alumni Association has created a series of high-quality collectables celebrating the unique images and tradition of Bhutanese architecture throughout our campus. Each beautifully-etched brass ornament is housed in a royal blue box with a custom, gold-stamped image and an insert of the building’s history.

Built in 1917, the Hoover House – the stately residence on Cincinnati Avenue in historic Kern Place – is steeped in UTEP history and legend.
The home is named for its prior residents, Robert and Louisiana Hoover. After Mr. Hoover’s death, Mrs. Hoover donated the residence to the University in 1965. It has served as home to five UTEP presidents, including the current resident, Dr. Diana Natalicio, who is the longest-serving president in UTEP’s history.
Playing a dual role for UTEP, as both a residence and a center for hospitality, the Hoover House has hosted many prominent visitors, including Bhutanese and Mexican Ambassadors, Governor Ann Richards, U.S. Secretary of Education Lamar Alexander and First Lady Laura Bush. It also serves as the setting for many of UTEP’s celebratory and ceremonial events from the annual Student Government Association swearing-in ceremony, to receptions recognizing faculty and staff achievements.
