UTEP Collectible Ornaments

History:
Since 2001, the UTEP Alumni Association has created a series of high-quality collectables celebrating the unique images and tradition of Bhutanese architecture throughout our campus. Each beautifully-etched brass ornament is housed in a royal blue box with a custom, gold-stamped image and an insert of the building’s history.

Official 2018 Collectible Ornament
Standing more than 35 feet above a busy Sun Bowl Drive, the Bhutanese-inspired pedestrian bridge is one of the most striking landmarks at The University of Texas at El Paso and is seen by thousands of people daily as they drive into the main campus.
The colorful bridge, which was built in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, was dedicated in 2011. It measures 156 feet long, weighs 92 tons and connects one of the campus’ parking lots to the Health Sciences and Nursing Building. Students, faculty, staff and visitors use the stairs or elevator in the 26-foot-tall Bhutanese tower to reach the bridge, which offers a quick, easy and safe passage to the main campus. Like other structures on campus, the pedestrian bridge was designed in UTEP’s signature Bhutanese architectural style with decorative ceremonial flags reminiscent of those prevalent throughout the Kingdom of Bhutan.
