On December 6, 2017, over 200 friends and family members attended the Fall Ring Ceremony at the Tomas Rivera Center to witness a special rite of passage – the symbolic crossover from student to alumni, and becoming a Miner forever.

Moderated by UTEP alumna, KVIA’s Denise Olivas, students walked across the stage toward a vintage pick axe symbolizing their student journey as they mined their minds. At the other end of the pick axe, executive committee members of the UTEP Alumni Association presented each student with their official class ring, symbolizing their transition into the UTEP alumni family. Our newest alumni will forever carry at hand the traditions and rich heritage of our great university.

In partnership with Jostens, the official ring program is a special UTEP tradition that takes the unique qualities of the university and incorporates them into a unique symbol that identifies the wearer as a critical thinker, a leader, and a person of character- a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso.

Not only do our students hold a symbol of accomplishment; they are paying it forward for the next generation of Miners, as portion of the proceeds from the ring sales help support the Alumni Association’s Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Stay tuned for the Spring 2018 Ring Ceremony!
