What are the benefits of becoming a Miner Ambassador?
Becoming a Miner Ambassador will not only allow you to develop valuable professional experiences, but will also enable you with the opportunity to network with UTEP alumni, faculty, and staff. As a Miner Ambassador, you will gain leadership experience while having the opportunity to step out of your comfort zone – all while meeting new people and making new friends.
Why is a 2-year commitment required to become a Miner Ambassador?
UTEP’s Miner Ambassador program requires members with varying degrees of experience. Typically, it takes approximately an entire year for a member to get a full understanding of what it is like to be a Miner Ambassador. Once members acquire this familiarity, they will be able to not only be more effective and efficient members but will also be able to guide and assist newly accepted ambassadors.
When do Miner Ambassador applications close?
Miner Ambassador applications for the 2023-2024 year will close on Friday, December 8, 2023.
What are some specific responsibilities of a Miner Ambassador?
Specific Miner Ambassador responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Assist management of UTEP events hosted by various departments. Event assignments include but are not limited to the following:
○ Escorting VIP’s
○ Ushering, greeting, and directing guests
○ Serving as tour guides
○ Network with participants
○ Setup and breakdown
• Attend monthly meetings and annual training sessions
• Maintaining a high disciplinary and academic standing

What is covered in the mandatory 3-day Miner Ambassador training?
During the Miner Ambassador’s annual 3-day training, incoming members will be given a tour of UTEP, and learn about the campus’s history, architecture, and art. Trainees will also learn about etiquette, networking techniques, communication skills, and their new responsibilities as a Miner Ambassador.

What UTEP departments do Miner Ambassadors work with?
Miner Ambassadors work closely all departments in need of the Ambassadors’ services. Members work closely especially with the Office of Institutional Advancement and the President’s Office.
How time-consuming is being a Miner Ambassador?
Attendance at monthly meetings and annual training sessions is mandatory. But Ambassadors are not expected to volunteer at every major event held by the University. As an Ambassador, you have the autonomy to become as involved as you would like depending on your schedule.
What is the Miner Ambassador uniform?
There are three (3) Miner Ambassador uniforms:
Casual:
• Casual: UTEP polo + khakis
• Business: White button-down, long-sleeved shirt + black slacks
• Presidential Suit: 2-piece suit + white shirt and tie
*Note: Uniform is provided by the Office of Institutional Advancement
Why do Miner Ambassadors wear uniforms?
Miner Ambassadors are required to wear uniforms to represent UTEP in a professional manner and to be recognized as part of this distinguished group of Miners.
